A Dorset based automotive business had outgrown its existing storage and came to Linear Storage Solutions for advice. The existing automotive parts storage set up was not very well organised and did not make best use of the space available. It was proving difficult to locate parts quickly which was slowing down repairs and affecting efficiency.
How the shelving is to be used
Tyres of varying sizes needed to be stored, along with a range of small parts. These clearly required completely different shelving solutions.

Having established the client’s requirements, and to ensure best use of space, Linear designed a layout incorporating the following appropriate storage solutions:
TS LONGPAN for Tyre Racking
TS Longspan shelving is ideal for storing tyres. It comes in a wide range of sizes and can be customised. It ensures vehicle tyres are stored safely and the unique fit between the upright and claw gives it incredible strength and rigidity. Multiple bays of longspan shelving were installed at one end of the warehouse. Each was configured to store different sizes of tyre allowing the correct tyres to be selected easily.
EXPO 4 Shelving for smaller parts
The Expo4 shelving range is extremely versatile, offering a huge range of accessories. It is boltless so it can be put together in minutes. We installed several bays of shelving fitted with the following accessories:
- roll out drawers – ideal for high density storage of small parts
- shelf trays – complete with identification labels and slot-in dividers to store large volumes of small parts
- louvre back panels fitted with hooks to create a picking area at the back of the shelving
The outcome
The client was thrilled with their new storage solutions. With the perfect place for their full stock of tyres and automotive parts, the workplace was much easier to navigate and efficiency was increased.
